Nikon Z9 II:
Cinema in Your Hands
Engineering Excellence
REDCODE RAW Integration
For the first time, users can record .R3D files directly to CFexpress Type B cards. This unlocks Hollywood-standard grading potential and 16-bit color depth within a handheld form factor.
The EXPEED 8 Engine
The new dual-chip architecture allows for 8K oversampling at high frame rates without overheating. Testing shows stable 8K/60p recording for over 150 minutes in 25°C ambient temperatures.
Neural-Link AF
Using deep-learning hardware, the Z9 II predicts subject movement before it happens. In sports like MotoGP or F1, the camera maintains focus on the driver’s helmet even through high-speed motion blur.
The End of the Rig?
With the addition of 32-bit float internal audio and a significantly brighter 3,500-nit EVF, the need for external monitors and recorders is becoming a choice rather than a necessity. The Z9 II’s in-body image stabilization (IBIS) has been tuned specifically for “cinema-walk” shots, mimicking the smoothness of a physical gimbal.
“It’s the first camera that feels like it’s thinking with you,” says wildlife filmmaker Sarah Chen. “When I’m shooting 8K at 120fps, the level of detail is so high I can crop in 400% for a 4K delivery and it still looks like a native shot.”
Pro Tip:
To handle the 1,200Mbps data rate of 8K/120p REDCODE RAW, ensure you are using CFexpress 4.0 cards with a sustained write speed of at least 1,500MB/s.
